The course is formed of 8 grades.

Grade 1 – BEGINNER

Subjects:

• Introduction to Oud Instrument
• Music Theory  

(Introduction to Time Signatures, Rhythm, Notation, Reading Skills)

• Finger Positioning
• Instrument Grip
• Reesha (Picking) Technique
• Maqams (Arabic Scales)

Learned at the end of Grade 1:

• Perform three beginner level pieces to exhibit the learnings of Level 1
• Learn two beginner level Maqams

Prerequisites:

• Enrollment Interview eligibility

Grade 2 – BEGINNER

Subjects:

• Music Theory

(Time Signatures, Rhythm, Notation, Reading Skills)

• Finger Positioning
• Reesha (Picking) Technique
• Maqams

(Introduction to Microtones and Understanding Microtone theory)

Learned at the end of Grade 2:

• Perform three pieces to exhibit the learnings of Level 1
• Learn two more beginner level Maqams including a simple Maqam with microtone.

Grade 3 – EASY INERMEDIATE

Subjects:

• Music Theory (Time Signatures, Rhythm, Notation, Reading Skills)
• Finger Positioning
• Reesha (Picking) Technique
• Introduction to Improvisation

(Understanding the Taqsim and Interpretation)

• Maqams

Learned at the end of Grade 3:

• Perform three easy-Intermediate pieces to exhibit the learnings of Level 3
• Learn two more easy-intermediate Maqams including a beginner level maqam with Microtones.

Grade 4 – EASY INERMEDIATE

• Perform three Intermediate pieces to exhibit the learnings of Level 4
• Learn two more easy-intermediate Maqams
• Play beginner level Taqsim

Grade 5 – INERMEDIATE

• Perform three advanced-intermediate level pieces to exhibit the learnings of Level 5

• Play Intermediate level Taqsim

Grade 6 – ADVANCED INERMEDIATE

Learned at the end of Grade 6:

• Perform three advanced-intermediate level pieces to exhibit the learnings of Level 5
• Learn two additional Maqams
• Play advanced-Intermediate level Taqsim

Grade 7 – ADVANCED

• Reesha (Picking) Skills improvement
• Improvisation Skills improvement

(Advanced level Taqsim and Interpretation applications)

 Learned at the end of Grade 7:

• Perform three advanced level pieces to exhibit the learnings of Level 5
• Learn two additional Maqams
• Play advanced-Intermediate level Taqsim

Prerequisites:

• Enrollment Interview eligibility
• Grade 6 level knowledge

Grade 8 – ADVANCED

• This Grade is an highly advanced stage where the trainee will focus on advanced skill and knowledge development.

• Enrollment Interview eligibility
• Grade 7 level knowledge

Grade 1 and 2: 2 months per Grade

Grade 3,4,5,6,7,8: 3 months per Grade.

COMPLETION

Trainees will receive a “Certificate” at the end of each grade prepared by Katara Oud Center and endorsed by the Course Instructor.

NOTES

• The eligibility of trainee candidates for enrollment will be determined based on the results of instructor’s preliminary interview.
• The student’s level will be determined by a preliminary interview and the level at which he/she should be registered will be determined accordingly.
• Completing the Grades within the stipulated time depends on the attention that Trainees pay to the lessons and the diligence they show towards the assigned tasks by the instructor.

Grade 1 – 2 (Completion time per grade: 2 months)

Notes:

• Hourly Payments or bulk payment for more than one grade shall not be accepted for this course)
• Above prices are per person.

PAYMENTS

• Training course registrations will not be confirmed until registration payment is complete and billing information is received in full as agreed with the customer.
• Please avoid foreign currency cash payment. Katara Oud Centre only accepts Qatari Riyals for cash payments.
• Credit Card payment is accepted.
• Payments of trainees under 18, should be done by their parents.

CANCELLATIONS AND REFUND

• Trainees or their parents should inform Katara Oud Centre about the cancellation 2 days prior to the lesson date. Otherwise, Katara Oud Centre does not offer any refund.
• Katara Oud Centre offers rescheduling of the cancelled lesson if cancellation inquiry forwarded within time the period mentioned above.
• If a training class is cancelled due to any unavoidable circumstances such as health conditions, weather or natural disaster, the customer is entitled to reschedule the training.
• Katara Oud Center holds the right to request a justification for the cancellations due to reasons of health and other than mentioned above.
• If the trainee withdraws from the scheduled grade following refund policy shall be applied and no certification will be provided:

Withdrawal at 3^rd to 4^th week: %50 refund

Withdrawal at 5^th to 6^th week: %40 refund

Withdrawal at 7^th to 8^th week: %30 refund

ADVANCED SKILL DEVELOPMENT course:
